Super Mario for MegaCon 2014

As I am getting prepared for MegaCon 2014 my mind is on making new video game art and being able to price them so that MegaCon attendees can grab some original work without maxing out their budgets. This 5"x7" Super Mario illustration is matted to 8"x10" and available for just $50 and is available now through my SHOP. If this piece sells before MegaCon fear not...there will be more.

Sally Nightmare Before Christmas Art

Like so many other people who make art in my genre, the works of Tim Burton have been a large influence in my own creations. This being the 20th anniversary year of The Nightmare Before Christmas, I've been really wanting to make an homage piece for the film. Finally, in the last month of 2013, I slipped one in.

I needed to knock this out in one day, due to Christmas commissions needing to be completed, so I cranked away on this for about 11 hours straight and completed it on schedule. The finished piece is 6"x12" colored pencil and acrylic on wood. Let me know if you think I should do more "Nightmare" art!

12 Mystery Monsters on June 28th

The time is near. On June 28th, 2013 I am releasing a dozen mystery monsters with madness on their minds. Each original monster is full-colored pencil on 2.5"x3.5" (baseball card size) illustration board and come in an archival acrylic frame. Each colored monster comes with an original blue sketch of a different monster, so you get two unique original drawings together at one time. The blue sketches are being randomly matched with the colored monsters, then packaged up and sealed. After that, no one will know which monsters are in which pack. You will receive a randomly pulled package, making them mystery monsters! They will be priced at just $75 for two drawings (one colored and framed and one blue sketch on bristol), two monster pin back buttons, and a bookmark! No limit per person, but no advance orders or holds are being accepted this time. Make sure you mark your calenders for June 28th!

Limiting Customs Until October

Summer is upon us and I'm sure you have a few things planned whether it's completing some projects around your home, traveling somewhere special, or just getting in some time to relax. I have some ambitions, conventions, and commitments I will be attacking this summer so in order to make it all happen I am limiting the number of commissioned figures I will accept between now and October 1st.

I have added the last remaining quantities and platforms in the Custom Figures Section of my Etsy Shop so you can order quickly and easily and receive notifications when your completed piece has shipped. If you do not grab one of these before October, you will most likely not see your completed custom until 2014.

This limitation only applies to custom figures. Drawings and paintings are a case-by-case basis. If you have any questions, comment below. Don't forget to follow on Instagram and Twitter for in-progress posts and spontaneous shenanigans. Go get yourself a custom figure!

GI Joe Show

GI JOE TRIBUTE SHOW MAY 31 IN NEW JERSEY

SubUrban Toys and Tenacious Toys are teaming up to present a custom toy show based on the recently released GI Joe mini figure platform by The Loyal Subjects.

There will be 30+ artists contributing about 100 customized GI Joe figures to the show. Additionally, several artists are creating original paintings and prints for the show. There will also be exclusive GI Joe t-shirts by The Loyal Subjects, stickers, grilling outside the shop, appearances by Les Schettkoe (creator of the TLS GI Joe figures), Jonathan Cathey (head of TLS), several Hasbro employees and many of the local artists from the roster. It's going to be an absolute blast- a fitting tribute to the most influential toy line of our generation. Come party with us!

Press Start at FNDTN Gallery

The video game fanatic in me has been itching to be part of an art exhibit focused on the same and the time has finally come. I have created two new pieces in the new media-combo I've been pursuing lately. Each piece is colored pencil and acrylic paint on wood and will be debuted by FNDTN Gallery on opening night.

"PRESS START" is a group show featuring artwork by local (Maryland area) and national artists inspired by video games. The show will run from Friday, May 10th, to Saturday, May 25th, with an opening reception for the event on May 10th at 7PM.

Pink Elephant Custom Munny

Well, the sculpting bug has bitten me. I've managed to customize a couple hundred art toys in the past three years without ever picking up an ounce of sculpting material, but after receiving a commission for a Scorpion Dunny which required a sculpted tail, I had the thought in my mind to do more 3D, but never really took the leap. So far this year though, I have sculpted on a few customs, including this Pink Elephant 4" mini-Munny.

I will be sculpting more for sure, but not always. I still think there are times when the natural shape of the figure should be allowed to shine through and the paintwork should merely enhance the platform as it is. So, I am grateful now to have this new element of customizing in my grasp so that I am able to take each new piece in the direction that needs to go without limitation.

Anchored Heart Shirts

The "Anchored Heart" tees are about to start shipping and I am giving away the original blue-pencil sketch used to create this design to one person who orders the shirt before Feb 28th. Each shirt ordered enters your name into a random drawing, so order three shirts and your name goes in three times. Consider giving these as gifts to increase your odds of winning. The shirts are printed on light heather grey cotton/polyester blend unisex tees and are just $15 until Feb 28. They will be $18 thereafter. These are very limited edition shirts with only 100 total being made, so sizes are limited to about 20 or so each. Don't delay, order today - www.bryancollins.bigcartel.com

New Nautical Illustrations

The Atlantean Relic :: 10"x10" colored pencil on wood

Blow Your Boat :: 5"x7" colored pencil on wood

It's already February and I am releasing these two new nautical illustrations. I started a commitment in October of last year to release new work on the first of each month and I've held fast so far. These pieces remain in the nautical theme I've been exploring, and I've gone both above and below the ocean's surface to broaden the scope of sea-themes.

The work has been made available through www.bryancollins.bigcartel.com until they are sold. If the piece you are looking for is not in the online shop, it has found a home. Feel free to message me with any questions and God bless!

Tales of Tentacles

December's new releases are now up in the Etsy shop. To make things a little different than last month, I've also made the blue pencil sketches available for each original colored piece. That means I've released eight new pieces this month. What remains will be in the NEW RELEASES section of my shop throughout the month of December or until sold out. The price range is $40 to $350 so if you're thinking Christmas gifts, there's a good price range. The new works are as follows:

You Feel Like Home :: 10"x10" colored pencil on wood

Unwanted Guest :: 5"x7" colored pencil on wood

Anchorpus :: 4"x4" colored pencil on wood

A Tangled Attraction :: 6"x12" colored pencil on wood

Check the NEW RELEASES section to see which pieces are available. After January 1st any remaining pieces will be moved to the ORIGINALS section of my shop. As always, please comment or message me with any questions and I will reply as soon as I can. God bless.

Time Lapse Octopus Drawing

It's been a while since I've made a time-lapse video, so I thought since I've been working on wood a lot lately, it would be a good time to make a post on my Youtube Channel. Enjoy!

Warriors of the Wind

Available November 1st, 2012 - Four new colored pencil illustrations on cradled basswood. Each is 5"x7"x1.5" deep. They will be available through my Etsy Shop.

The release of these four pieces marks the first in a new way I will be sharing art with you. Rather than offering new work sporadically over time, I will now be presenting fresh pieces on the 1st day of each month.

"Warriors of the Wind" are whimsical portrayals of natives, inspired by various cultures that have influenced my life including Apache, Maya, and Tlingit. From the top left, the titles are "Chief Starhunter", "Rose of the Moon", "Sun Prince", and "Princess Prophetess".

Please message with any questions, or leave a comment below. Thank you for believing in art!

Monthly Releases and VIP Access

On November 1st I will be instituting a new system of releasing original works on a monthly basis. On the first day of each month I will release 4-5 brand new pieces; sometimes more but never less. These new works will be available directly through me at studio prices with no gallery markups or waiting weeks for a show to come down before taking your piece home.

You can gain VIP access to these new works by signing up for my email newsletter. A few days before the pieces go public I will be taking advance orders from anyone who receives my newsletter. You will be given a preview of the new works and a link to purchase before anyone else. If this sounds good to you, enter your email address in the box below and you will become a VIP.
