Blue Marlin and Yellow Fin Tuna Painting

Spanning the length of June through November, and 6 feet by three feet of canvas space, the Blue Marlin painting is complete. This is the largest painting I've ever finished (I've worked on some collaborative wall murals but my parts were small) and I learned so much about what I can do with brushes and paints.

This piece was a commission, but through an agreement with the client, prints are available. There are options from glossy 5x7s to extremely limited edition, full-size canvases.  View all of your options at UseEveryColor.com

Two New 4x4 Illustrations

"The Dock Watchman" :: Colored pencil on wood

"Old Salt 01" :: Colored pencil and acrylic on wood

This month, rather than releasing new work on the 1st of January, I am making them available as they are finished. These two new 4"x4" illustrations are available now in my shop. If you don't see them there, then they are sold.

Tales of Tentacles

December's new releases are now up in the Etsy shop. To make things a little different than last month, I've also made the blue pencil sketches available for each original colored piece. That means I've released eight new pieces this month. What remains will be in the NEW RELEASES section of my shop throughout the month of December or until sold out. The price range is $40 to $350 so if you're thinking Christmas gifts, there's a good price range. The new works are as follows:

You Feel Like Home :: 10"x10" colored pencil on wood

Unwanted Guest :: 5"x7" colored pencil on wood

Anchorpus :: 4"x4" colored pencil on wood

A Tangled Attraction :: 6"x12" colored pencil on wood

Check the NEW RELEASES section to see which pieces are available. After January 1st any remaining pieces will be moved to the ORIGINALS section of my shop. As always, please comment or message me with any questions and I will reply as soon as I can. God bless.

Time Lapse Octopus Drawing

It's been a while since I've made a time-lapse video, so I thought since I've been working on wood a lot lately, it would be a good time to make a post on my Youtube Channel. Enjoy!

Daily Drawing 77

"Sailor" (daily drawing 77) - 5"x7" watercolor, acrylic, and ink on watercolor paper - Available at http://www.etsy.com/listing/94273824/sailor-original-5x7-mixed-media

On this piece I decided to play around with more shading than usual. Even though it's a "daily drawing" and intended to be completed in an hour or less, I've been wanting to learn how to achieve the same contrast and emotion in my quick drawings as I do in full paintings and illustrations taking days or even weeks.

As I train my hand and eye to spot the sections that need more working and develop a responsive instinct for this, I should be able to become more prolific when I get back to larger sized pieces of art.

This illustration is also another idea that I am considering for an upcoming painting to be shown at Art Whino in the near future. This subject is heavily inspired by the fact that I am moving back to Florida in less than two weeks and will reside next to the ocean. After 7 years in the land-locked mountains of Colorado, I am eager to smell the salty sea air again.

To see the selection of available daily drawings, please visit the Daily Drawing Section of my Etsy shop.

Heading Home Illustration

"Heading Home" - 3.5"x7.5" ink and colored pencil on pine. I've been painting on wood quite a bit lately but this is just the second piece of wood I have drawn on.

I've lightly covered the surface with archival varnish to protect the ink and pencil work. The original is available at http://www.etsy.com/listing/90521382/heading-home-original-ink-and-pencil

Aquatic Chuckboy Dunny

There's nothing that warms my heart like when someone receives a piece of work from me and then asks for another. That was the case with this custom Chuckboy Dunny. The collector who commissioned it had previously received his Ocean-Life set of customs. He liked the eye on the octopus Dunny and let me run with that. The above photos show what I came up with after letting my mind journey to the deep for a bit. Hope you like it.

Title: Aquatic Chuckboy Dunny
Artist: Bryan A. Collins (2011)
Medium: Acrylic on 3" vinyl
Status: Sold
