First New Art Pieces Of 2021


Once again I've neglected my blog for far too long, but not for lack of work ethic. I've been creating new art, new products that feature my art, and traveling for various reasons, both good and bad. As we enter the month of March in 2021, I have five new pieces to share with you. Honestly, five pieces in two months is more than my usual, but I did start one of them a while back. More on that in a moment. First up is this Underwater Skull with Flame Angelfish. You probably know my love for all things aquatic, and I've been contemplating a couple of underwater pieces that I've not yet been ready to tackle, so I started with this 5"x7" acrylic painting to begin exploring ways I might move forward on the larger pieces. This Anglerfish is the tenth official piece in my series called Funky Fish. (There are two unofficial pieces that were created for a commercial collector, and are numbered separately.) It's also the piece that I mentioned earlier, which I started painting a while back. Since I finished it in 2021, it's included in this set of new art. At 16"x20", this is the largest Funky Fish painting ever offered publicly and is available in my Etsy shop if you're so inclined. There are prints available in three sizes as well. Shop my Etsy.



Next up is this Seahorse mixed media piece, made with colored pencils and watercolor. It's intended to match an octopus and jellyfish that I have available as prints. Threes always look good together. This piece is, as you may have guessed, available in my Etsy shop. If the original is sold, then prints will be available. For either, click on over this way.



Of course, my love for The Nightmare Before Christmas surfaces again, as I've added Jack's dog Zero to my print offerings. This piece was created with colored pencil and watercolor on gray paper, and measures 5"x7". The original was a commission, so it's sold, but prints are available on both high gloss photography paper and texture matte cotton paper in, yep, my Etsy shop.



Lastly, we have this fun little Vaporeon. All of my Pokémon friends have been asking for more, so I chose to add to my Eeveelutions, as I currently only offer prints of Eevee and Umbreon. At the time of writing this blog post, I just finished Vaporeon last night, so if you check now, you may find the original still available, but either way, I listed prints immediately due to a high demand. The original is 5"x7" colored pencil on tan paper, just like 99% of my other Pokémon drawings. Grab one for yourself HERE.

Octopus Trucker Hats Are Almost Gone


Octopus truckers hats arrived in the studio this spring, and there are only a few left. Holiday Canvas Prints and TOP SECRET update



The 2019 holiday season is here and a lot of you have been asking at in-person events if everything that I bring to shows is available online. Most of what I have available is not offered online because of the sheer volume of my ever expanding open edition print catalog. The other reason is that with originals, many times they get listed online and then sell the next day at an in-person event and have to be taken down immediately so they don't sell to a second collector. That being said, I have been making a slow but steady effort to expand what is offered in my Etsy shop. One of those recent expansions is the addition of canvas prints. Currently there are two 8x10 canvas prints you can get in the shop, with more to come. They are Jack of Clubs and Oogie Boogie, since the season is upon us.

These prints are .75" deep wrapped canvas with hardware for hanging attached and ready to go. I have also hand signed them for a personal touch. If you want to add these extra fine prints to your collection or give them as gifts, click here.

The second order of business is the TOP SECRET project I have been working on for the past couple of months. This is one of the biggest, if not the biggest project I have ever tackled. I know that I am being mysterious and vague about it and you're probably wondering why I even mention it at all, but I regard you as part of my creative life and want to share with you whatever I can. You knowing that the project exists helps to keep me moving forward on it. Most likely I will reveal what the project is before it is totally finished, but the project itself cannot be revealed until it is 100% complete. When you know what it is I think you will understand.

Intracoastal Observer 1 and 2 by Bryan Collins



Art should always involve some element of challenge. There should always be some sort of push, not always to be "better" but in the least, to stay fresh. When a collector requested that I make a pair of commissions in a style that I hadn't worked in for years I was uncertain if I could pull off what he was asking for. He sent me images that I had made in the past where I drew with ink over watercolor and said he wanted two larger pieces made this way. Up to this point I had only attempted this technique in 5x7 inch size. We were looking at 11x17 here and I felt like I was being asked to build a skyscraper. I consider myself somewhat of a micro artist, usually working pretty small, but the challenge seemed exciting. It's good to see art as an adventure. Each piece is a trip where you should expect to discover something new. With that viewpoint I accepted the job and came up with these two pieces based on his list of wildlife and suggested juxtaposition.

Davy Jones Prints Now Available




It's been a while since I created this pen and ink drawing of the Pirates of the Caribbean character, Davy Jones. This was a commission during the 2017 July Art Challenge where I attempted to create a commission once per day for the entire month. I ended up doing 33 pieces in 31 days. Until now, this print was only available at shows from me in person. Now they are available in my Etsy shop at www.bryancollins.etsy.com so you can have one shipped right to your door. These are my highest quality prints made on 100% cotton, acid free, archival textured museum paper with equally archival ink. Grab one HERE.
