Custom KR Mascots

Available November 21st, 2012 at 5pm est - These three custom Kidrobot Mascot Bots are part of the Mascot Battle blind box series curated by Don P and Sekure D. These are my first custom KR Bots and are painted with acrylics. The series is comprised of "team old" from the first KR Mascot series (Good vs Evil), and "team new" who are joining in for this second series of customs. Bots are blind-boxed when you order, but you may choose if you want a pull from team old or team new. If you want a shot at one of the three above, grab from team new. All the possibilities of custom bots are sampled at http://www.battleofthemascots.bigcartel.com/

The artists on Team NEW are JAR, Color Chemist, Nugglife, RunDMB, Charles Rodriguez, MaloApril, Squink!, Wheelbarrow, El Hooligan, and Stuart Witter.

The artists on Team OLD are Sekure D, Matcandraw, Hugh Rose, Fuller, Alex Break, Don P, Nikejerk, Loz Hausofboz, JFury, and Jc Rivera.

Bots are priced at $70 each and pre-orders have already snatched up 30 of the 50 custom pieces, so only 20 will be available when the public link opens at 5pm est on November 21st so don't dally.

New Studio: Part 4

It looks a little better than the last update, but my new studio is still a mess. It's tough to keep up with the creative work-load and still make time to fix up the new place, but I'm juggling the best I know how. Even though I just took this photo the night before last, the studio already looks different. I have moved the floor easel (you can see part of it on the left) over to where you see the big red tool box in the photo. The tool box is now where the easel is in the photo. The reason for this is two-fold. First of all, I can use the drawing table as a place to rest my paints and other supplies I need while working. The other reason is that in a 1922 house, electrical outlets can be few and far between. In my entire studio there is just ONE outlet. Rather than running a bunch of extension cords or some other method that may become a fire hazard, I can now use just one desk lamp for both my drawing table and my easel.

I still have not put the final coat of paint on the orange wall, and still need to mount shelves before everything can be properly displayed and organized. I will continue to keep updating the progress on the new studio as interesting or significant changes are made, but for now it's back to work!

God bless,

Bryan A. Collins

New Studio Part 3

It's a mess, but it's so good to be in a space that I can really feel creative in. After renting for so many years, it's nice to be able to paint the walls and drill holes or build shelves. Well, I haven't done the last two things yet, as you can see in the photos. Right now there are still boxes on the floor but I have a few places to put my coffee cup.

The "Berry Purple" wall is finished and the first coat is on the "Mandarin Orange" wall. I won't get to do much more with the space this week because no one else is going to finish the commissions and customs on my project board for me. I am content to work amidst a mess for the time being. My mom and dad are driving up from Florida next week though, so hopefully things will be in order by then.

I may have to change plans on the wall I intended for large-format painting. Apparently people only needed one outlet per room in 1922 and nobody since then ever decided to add a couple more in this room. The one outlet I have in the whole studio is on the wall I wanted empty for painting huge canvases and panels. Now the computer desk is there. This isn't a big deal at the moment. I still have a few unfinished, medium sized pieces to take care of before jumping in to a large piece. Perhaps an outlet will appear across the room in the meantime.

God bless,

Bryan A. Collins

Toy2R Mini Qee Release

The good folks at Toy2R are getting ready to release a new DIY vinyl toy that is a mini version of their staple Qees. Tenacious Toys was in charge of putting together an artist line-up to have some of these pieces fully customized before the release. I was added to that roster, and created the piece you see in the teaser photo below. If you want to see the whole thing, along with about 20 other great custom mini Qees, head over to Yoyamart (New York, NY) on Valentines Day and fall in love with Toy2R's new release!

God bless,

Bryan A. Collins

Custom Dumpling of Doom

I just began customizing a Giver, designed by Andrew Bell, which I plan to unveil at NYCC 2010. Included with the Giver was this accessory piece called the Soup Dumpling of Doom. Since I have no plan to include him with the Giver I am working on, I thought he would make a great stand-alone custom piece. The dumpling itself is limited to just 300 pieces, making this custom not only a one-of-a-kind, but also makes your probability of finding many other custom dumplings very low.

This 'Dumpling from Space' has been painted with acrylics, measures approximately 2"x2" when looking at it from the top, and stands about 1.25" tall. He is available for purchase at www.bryancollins.bigcartel.com for just $39.00 plus shipping.

God bless,

Teddy Troops Space Monster

Space Monster Teddy Troop
Acrylic on 3.5" vinyl toy
SOLD

I just finished up this commissioned 3.5" Teddy Troop. The collector asked for the piece to be done like my Beast Buddies but of course I took it a step further. Since the Teddy Troops are slightly larger than the Dunnys, and the helmet has a lot of workable surface area, I was able to do quite a bit with the details.

Email art@bryandrinkscoffee.com to inquire about commissions.
