RIP Munny stickers

Yesterday marked the 23rd custom Munny sticker in a row of an attempt to make more than 70 and auction them each day on eBay. For more than three weeks I've diligently created a new, hand drawn design on a blank Munny sticker and listed them for opening bids of $1.00 or $5.00 depending on size. I did this in an attempt to get some affordable art out there to anyone who was interested in these Munny stickers but the resulting information has come back that very few of you are interested. Some of the auctions have ended with zero bids and many have ended at just $1.00 and since I'm investing about 1.5 hours on each one plus time to package and ship, that's just not something I can sustain any longer. I'm not sure if it's because people are reluctant to bid on eBay or if the Munny craze is over, but when people are paying more for prints on Etsy than for originals on eBay, it really says something. So, I am canceling the custom Munny sticker challenge and getting back to creating fresh originals from scratch; no blank Munny outline involved.

In other news, tomorrow will be my first appearance in 2014 at Riverside Arts Market in Jacksonville, FL and in two weeks it's Megacon! If you're in Florida I hope to see you at one of these events. God bless!

Tattoo Cat Trikky Sticker

Among the blank Munny stickers I am customizing right now, there are a few in the lesser known Kidrobot designs such as this Trikky sticker. When I sat in front of the blank cat-like outline I just had to turn it into something with a tattoo style complete with cherry blossoms. Upon reaching the 15th custom sticker in my attempt to draw more than 70 of them, I have run out of the smaller 3"x3.75" blanks stickers and have moved up to the 4"x4.75" sticker. It's only an inch larger on each side, but with almost nine square inches of extra space, the actual area I am drawing on is almost double the size of the smaller stickers. Custom Munny Sticker 1

From time to time I actually try to organize my studio, going through old drawings, looking for new ideas, and just getting the mess into a more workable type of mayhem. Today I was going through some of the things still boxed up from when I moved my studio almost a year ago and I came across more than 70 of these blank Munny stickers that come in the DIY boxes. I had colored a couple when I first started customizing art toys, but had since just started putting them in a drawer and letting them stack up. I decided I was either going to throw them out or start drawing on them. The choice was to draw one each day until they are gone, and list them on ebay as they are finished.

The first is now complete and the auction is live! I am starting each at just $1.00 so anyone can get in on the action. I'm going to keep this blog updated with each auction listing so make sure you're subscribed so you don't miss out.

Work Currently Happening

Everything you see here is currently in progress. This is not to mention the contracted commissions I have NOT yet started, or the children't book I am illustrating. There are also some pieces I'd love to do before Tampa Bay Comic Con in August. Just a heads-up on why I may be taking a while to respond to emails or finish projects. Limiting Customs Until October

Summer is upon us and I'm sure you have a few things planned whether it's completing some projects around your home, traveling somewhere special, or just getting in some time to relax. I have some ambitions, conventions, and commitments I will be attacking this summer so in order to make it all happen I am limiting the number of commissioned figures I will accept between now and October 1st.

I have added the last remaining quantities and platforms in the Custom Figures Section of my Etsy Shop so you can order quickly and easily and receive notifications when your completed piece has shipped. If you do not grab one of these before October, you will most likely not see your completed custom until 2014.

This limitation only applies to custom figures. Drawings and paintings are a case-by-case basis. If you have any questions, comment below. Don't forget to follow on Instagram and Twitter for in-progress posts and spontaneous shenanigans. Go get yourself a custom figure!

Passive Aggressive Munny

Good vs. Evil has been the conundrum debated among theologians, philosophers, and laymen alike since the beginning of mankind. I was commissioned to create a custom mini-Munny based on this theme, and produced this creature I am calling "Passive Aggressive". You may notice that there is some minor sculpt work on this one. I've only sculpted on three custom figures up till now, but I am beginning to slowly integrate more 3D elements into my customs. Kidrobot Sketch Session at Urban Outfitters

On April 14th I was granted the pleasure of being Kidrobot's featured artist for a one-night sketch session at Urban Outfitters. I got to meet some great collectors, fans, Kidrobot staff, and Urban Outfitters employees. In about 2.5 hours I doodled on more than 30 Munnyworld figures and had an awesome time.

Beast Buddies Mini Munny

My series of 100 custom Dunnys called Beast Buddies was a surprising success, and randomly packed into the 100 blind-boxes were 16 golden tickets. One of those tickets awarded it's collector with a free custom monster Mini Munny. The ticket was found and the custom Munny you see above was the prize.

My goal with this piece was to give a generally encompassing idea of what the Beast Buddies series was all about. Trying to create one piece that represents 100 pieces was a challenge and essentially impossible, so I focused on creating a multi-eyed monster that would fit in well with the concept that spread throughout the diverse span of customs that were all created as Beast Buddies.

Between now and July 20 you have a chance to bid on my custom mini-Munny called 'Pajama Boy'. He will be boxed up and shipped to the highest bidder, with 15% of the final price being donated to The Matthews House in Fort Collins, CO.

Pajama Boy has been painted with acrylic paint and clear coated with a non-yellowing protective lacquer. He measures approximately 4" tall and is made of vinyl.
