Owl ACEO

Owl ACEO
It's been a while since I've made an original ACEO, especially one with ink on illustration board. Maybe a year or so ago I cut a few scraps of illustration board into ACEO size (2.5"x3.5") and put them in the cabinet in my studio. I ran across them yesterday and decided to draw this owl. The original is available HERE for just $25 and comes with a UV protective trading card case.

12 Mystery Monsters on June 28th

The time is near. On June 28th, 2013 I am releasing a dozen mystery monsters with madness on their minds. Each original monster is full-colored pencil on 2.5"x3.5" (baseball card size) illustration board and come in an archival acrylic frame. Each colored monster comes with an original blue sketch of a different monster, so you get two unique original drawings together at one time. The blue sketches are being randomly matched with the colored monsters, then packaged up and sealed. After that, no one will know which monsters are in which pack. You will receive a randomly pulled package, making them mystery monsters! They will be priced at just $75 for two drawings (one colored and framed and one blue sketch on bristol), two monster pin back buttons, and a bookmark! No limit per person, but no advance orders or holds are being accepted this time. Make sure you mark your calenders for June 28th!

Last Chance on Four ATCs

I just got back from the Big Bang Bazaar in Maitland, FL and I am doing inventory on limited edition ATC (Art Trading Cards). There are currently four cards which are down to the very last one in the edition. They are as follows:

Randall's Robot

Curiosity Permanent

The Gallery Of His Mind

I Blame Picasso

The prints above are signed and numbered on the back in an edition of 20, they come with a signed and numbered corresponding certificate of authenticity, and are just $4.95 each. Click the titles to go directly to the listing.

New ATCs will be released as each of these sells out, so grab them all while you still can.

New Drawings

One of my favorite things about exhibiting at Comic Book Conventions is being able to draw live for people who are curious about the process of making art. While showing work at the Long Beach Comic Con (Oct 29-30, 2011) I came up with these two ACEO drawings which were small enough to complete while people were watching. Both drawings are now available in my Etsy Shop. You can click on either to go directly to the listing. They are just $19 each and would make great Christmas gifts :)

Current ACEO Inventory

As I begin the scrambling to prepare for the upcoming Albuquerque Comic Expo I decided to take an inventory of how many limited edition ACEO (Art Cards Editions & Originals) I have on hand. As some of you know, I release trading card sized prints in editions of 20 and always release a new one when one sells out. For the Albuquerque Comic Expo I will be making an exception in case some sell out at the expo, and I will be releasing a few in advance.

First things first though, I want to give you the chance to pick up any of the existing trading card prints that still remain in case you can't make it to Albuquerque. Below you will see the image of any card currently available and the current number left of each one. I will try my best to update this post as the cards sell so this stays as current as possible.

The ACEO prints are just $3.95 each and are signed and numbered on the back. Each comes in a removable clear polypropylene sleeve and braced with foam board for protection. Once these are sold out, no more will be made. To order, just click the card(s) you like and you will be directed to the listing on Etsy.

ACEO Panels

Recently I had the pleasure of painting four ACEO panels for a collector. If you are unfamiliar with ACEOs, the acronym stands for Art Cards Editions and Originals. The only requirement for an ACEO is that it measures 2.5"x3.5" like a standard trading card. This way they can be kept in pages like baseball cards, or can be displayed in special frames made to fit trading cards.

The collector asked that the ACEOs be painted on wood, and that there be four of them, but for the subject she left me total control. I decided on a series of pseudo-portraits, chose mesquite for the wood, and painted them with acrylics. These are what I came up with.

Comments and questions welcomed.

God bless,

Bryan

Tiny Little ACEO Drawings

A while back I decided to personally challenge myself with a 'daily drawing' blog. I had seen other artists doing it either within groups challenging each other or just going solo. Fellow Gallery Underground studio mates Oscar Woodruff and Rolfe Bautista were two of them. After just a few short days I realized I would not be able to produce a finished original drawing each day without significantly increasing the amount of time it takes me to complete commissions and custom requests. As some of you know, I create constantly but not quickly. I ended the daily drawing blog and went back to completely focusing on commissions and shows.

The urge to create something without pressure is always in me. A great deal of what I am painting and drawing right now is specifically for someone or for an exhibit, so I sometimes miss drawing with no purpose other than the act of drawing. So, since the daily drawing thing is too large to tackle at the moment, I decided to occasionally make original ACEOs (Art Cards Editions and Originals). They measure 2.5"x3.5" which is standard trading card size. I am numbering them on the back for archiving purposes. They are available through Etsy at www.bryancollins.etsy.com for around $15 each.

These will come out sporadically, but I'd like to try to produce at least one per week. Since they are taking me around two hours to finish, I can't sacrifice that much time too often. They will have no connecting theme, just whatever I'm inspired to make at the moment I make it.

Feel free to send a message if you have any questions about anything. Doesn't even have to be art related. I'm a wealth of strange information.
