Honeycomb & Attack of the Toothworm

Honeycomb :: 11"x14" ink and colored pencil on tan paper

Attack of the Toothworm :: 5"x7" ink and white pencil on gray paper

As some of you know, I am obsessed with color. It hasn't always been this way, though. When I first started to get "serious" about art and spending hours on end drawing in my room with Metallica cassette tapes blaring in my ears, my number one tool was ink. These days, in order to cleanse my psychedelic pallet, I'm splashing in a few black and white drawings on mid toned paper. Chin Up Ink Drawing

This is the first piece I tried to tackle after picking up a set of Sakura Pigma Micron Pens and I put it aside for a while, knowing that once I had more practice with the pens I'd want to go back and work on it again. She's complete now and I am hooked on these pens. The tips don't clog or dry out like some other pens I've used, and the ink is archival and very black. Even the 005 size is consistently smooth.

New Pencil Drawings

I've been traveling the country lately by car, which means a good deal of time in hotels/motels, which means a good deal of time with a sketchbook. On top of that, I've done the Albuquerque Comic Expo and New West Fest in Fort Collins, CO so those weekend-long events also provide some decent time for sketching. Below are some of the pencil drawings I've come up with in the last month or two.

$1 Scratch Board Auction

Due to the closing of The Gallery Underground, I am auctioning off a few original pieces of work to keep from storing them in my studio. I do this from time to time so that collectors of any level have a chance at scoring an original piece for a price they can afford. Up for grabs now is the original scratch board piece called "Living Through Ignorance". This etching was debuted at my "Proof of Faith" solo exhibit at Art Whino. The piece itself measures 8"x10" and is framed in black. To place your bid, please search ebay for item 380330859157 or click HERE
