Sewn Together: First Draft Complete

I can't believe I am writing these words but here they are: The first draft of my first novel is complete! This moment seems to have taken forever but at the same time, I feel it has come so soon. It seems just days ago that I asked my children if Daddy should write a book but that was actually the beginning of October 2019. Now, at the end of January 2020, the story is written. Four months, nearly 82,000 words in twenty chapters, and countless cups of coffee have birthed the first adventure on the island of Tiltwater.
Stage two is self editing. I need to go read the whole thing, catching typos and filling plot holes, making the story as air tight as possible. I want your experience in reading Sewn Together to be the best it can be. The book is still on target to release in paperback and eBook late spring to early summer. Please consider joining my author Facebook page below for updates and discussion. I really can't wait to share this novel with you. I truly believe that it's a fun, exciting, and poignant adventure. Thank you for your continued support!

Excerpt from Sewn Together by Bryan A. Collins

Sewn Together: A Tale From Tiltwater is in the final stages of first draft. I was hoping to complete the first draft this week but as usual, life gets in the way. I know, I know...it's only Tuesday but I've had a few things pop up on my schedule that we're anticipated. There's still a possibility to finish it this week and I will do what I can to hit my target but I won't rush. Pre-orders are not up yet so there's no reason to force the ending.

If you're interested in being a beta reader, head over to the Facebook group and comment on the post about it. Beta readers should be getting the first complete read in about one or two weeks.

Sewn Together: A Tale From Tiltwater

I started real work on the final encounter this morning in my upcoming fantasy adventure novel, Sewn Together. While the title isn't carved in stone until the book is actually published, I expect Sewn Together to be it. This is the first book in a series to take place on the fictitious island of Tiltwater, so this and all subsequent books from the series will be subtitled, A Tale From Tiltwater. Here's a snippet from the ongoing first draft of book one. I'd love to read your comments.

They looked down at her as a vine slithered out and grabbed Tilvia by the leg, snatching her away from them. Keskin reached instinctively and grabbed the vine as it whipped past him, digging his heals in for a deadly game of tug-o-war.

I'm not posting much about the book on my art pages, so consider following my author Instagram at http://www.instagram.com/bacauthor if you are a fantasy reader.

I'll start posting sketches of characters soon, so stay on the lookout for them. Any art related posts such as those will be shared across all of my social media accounts but again, if you're interested in the upcoming books, follow my author Instagram @bacauthor and join the discussion on Facebook below.

I'm Writing a Novel

Like many people I read my first fantasy novel as a pre-teenager. I don't even remember what it was called, I just recall checking it out from the library because the cover art was amazing. I was also (and still am) a huge fan of the movies Willow and The NeverEnding Story and developed a passion for anything unreal. One of my first loves for art came in the form of a Dungeons & Dragons Monster Manual. I spent countless hours staring at D&D art and knew that I would one day write a book about strange monsters and fantasy lands. I tried more than once and met failure exclusively. Opting for more bite sized writing I put the aspirations of novel creation aside and self published an independent magazine. It was called the Magpie and was a monthly collection of short stories, poetry, and black and white art. Some of the stories were written by me until we had enough submissions to diversify the content.

Years later I attempted to write a vampire novel which I lost interest in after a few weeks. I made the most progress on a thriller about a man who witnesses a murder but rather than reporting it, writes a novel about it. He ends up plummeting into an introspective battle of guilt and pride. That one literally got lost, as I only saved it on one removable drive and it vanished in a move between apartments. Now, with life having me in a different circumstance, things are lined up in such a way that writing to completion is more possible.

I am very excited to be writing what will (God willing) become my first completed novel. I am positive about this new journey and I hope you are, too . Book one in this first series is slated to be released in early summer, 2020. Stay up to date by joining the Facebook group HERE. Thank you again for your continued support. Let's start this new decade on the right foot and make 2020 the best year ever.
